Musk re-published a video clip documenting the exciting moment during the unveiling of the “Robovan” vehicle at Tesla’s “We, Robot” event in October 2024.

The video shows the audience’s astonished reactions as the futuristic-designed vehicle glides onto the stage in complete silence, with its bright yellow paint and winged doors reminiscent of science fiction movie scenes.

According to previous reports, “Robovan” is a fully autonomous transport vehicle (Autonomous Vehicle) intended for mass transportation and freight. Its design is inspired by the classic Volkswagen van, but with a modern and futuristic design.

The motorized vehicle can accommodate up to 12 passengers, and has seats along its sides, creating an open space in the middle.

The vehicle is designed to operate without a steering wheel or pedals. It will rely on Tesla’s next-generation Full Self-Driving (FSD) system.

Tesla aims for the cost of operating rides on a Robovan to be lower than a public transit bus, perhaps less than $0.20 per mile.

Musk’s sharing of the video via his account on the “X” platform came a few days after Tesla’s 2025 shareholders meeting, where he confirmed the acceleration of the development of “Robovan” in parallel with the new Roadster cars and the development of 4680 batteries.

He also pointed out that production plans may allow commercial operation to begin by 2027, which could revolutionize the field of urban transportation and logistics services.

Musk’s post received great interaction, achieving than 96,000 likes, 10 million views, and thousands of responses in a few hours. The comments varied between enthusiastically praising and jokingly likening the vehicle to a “toaster on wheels.”
