uaetodaynews.com — Meghan Markle puts on a £7,000 fashion display in a stylish white dress and wears her glittering new ‘Queen’ ring ‘from Prince Harry’ as she attends charity tennis tournament
Meghan Markle put on a fashion display worth more than £7,000 as she attended a charity tennis tournament in support of one of her best friends this weekend.
The Duchess of Sussex, 44, stepped out in a £3,046 white halterneck button-down dress by Carolina Herrera to support the George Zajfen Tennis Tournament in Los Angeles.
Meghan also owns the dress, which features a neat collar and a ribbon belt tied around her waist, in navy, and previously wore the white version for an Easter video when she was surprised by a flock of ducklings.
She completed the look with a pair of strappy leather Jimmy Choo kitten heels that can cost up to £695 and her Loro Piana ‘Loom’ handbag which is priced at £3,410.
The event was organised by Kelly McKee Zajfen – one of the former royal’s closest friends in Montecito where she moved after leaving the royal family – in memory of her late son, George.
Although Meghan is usually known for wearing thousands of pounds worth of jewellery, she kept her accessories minimal on this occasion.
She ditched her usual stack of bracelets in favour of a simple pair of 24-carat gold stud earrings believed to be by Polène that are surprisingly affordable at £140.
However, she is believed to have been wearing a huge pear-shaped diamond ring on her ring finger, thought to have been a gift from Prince Harry.
Meghan Markle showed off her designer wardrobe in a Carolina Herrera dress, Jimmy Choo heels and a Loro Piana handbag as she attended the George Zaifen Tennis Tournament
She first wore the glamorous accessory in September when she attended Kevin Costner’s One805LIVE! charity concert in Santa Barbara.
It is believed to be the £3,185 ‘Queen’ Water Drop Moonstone Ring with Full Pavé Diamond Halo, from brand Logan Hollowell – potentially gifted just in time for Meghan’s 44th, on August 4.
The ring comes in three sizes – Micro Queen, Baby Queen and Classic Queen, and it is understood that Meghan was wearing the latter, which is the biggest.
According to the product description, the central ‘moonstone’ is said to ‘bring good fortune, bring success in love as well as business matters’.
And in what may have been a touching, subtle tribute to the Duke’s late mother, it added: ‘The moonstone is associated with the moon and was the stone of the goddess Diana. The most powerful time to use the moonstone is in a full moon.’
The ring features 14k gold and the pear shaped gem surrounded by a halo of white diamonds totaling 0.25 carat weight – and is available in yellow, rose, or white gold.
The tennis tournament was organised by Meghan’s best friend, Kelly McKee Zajfen, who shared photographs of the Duchess on her Instagram, and Alliance for Children’s Rights.
Meghan posed alongside Kelly and her daughter, as well as with the Duke of Sussex, who wore a matching white polo shirt paired with navy trousers and grey slip-ons.
The Duchess of Sussex, who attended the event alongside the Duke of Sussex, was visibly emotional during her best friend Kelly McKee Zaifen’s heartfelt speech about the loss of her son in 2022
In her Instagram post, former model Kelly thanked The Archewell Foundation, Meghan and Harry’s non-profit organisation, for its support.
The Duchess posted clips to Instagram from a moving afternoon which saw Kelly McKee Zajfen, pictured right, and family remember young George, who died in 2022 at the age of nine
She also addressed the Sussexes directly in her caption, writing: ‘Meg & H, you continue to amaze me with your commitment to community and your fierce loyalty and love in friendship.
‘We are so grateful you chose to support The Alliance again this year.
‘I’m always in awe of your ability to show up for others, for this cause, and for our family.
‘Thank you for holding Georgie in your hearts and helping us carry his light forward. We love you.’
The George Zaifen Tennis Tournament raises funds for the Alliance for Children’s Rights, which aims to secure safe homes, education, and support for children and families in need.
The tournament has been held for over 20 years but was renamed after Kelly’s late son George, who died suddenly at the age of nine in 2022 after he contracted Covid and meningitis.
Kelly gave a heartfelt speech in remembrance of her son during the event, which moved Meghan to tears as she became visibly emotional while standing courtside.
She was supported by Harry, who stood stoically behind his wife and offered his support.
Snaps showed the Duchess posing with Kelly’s family, including daughter Lily, while another video saw the Zajfen’s all together on the court
The Duchess has supported Zajfen through grief since George died – and Zajfen has previously described Meghan as an ‘incredible friend and mother’, adding that she is ‘always the first to say yes and support those you love’.
Her presence at the tournament comes two weeks after Meghan made her very first appearance at Paris Fashion Week to attend the Balenciaga show.
She was snapped wearing a stylish white oversized cape over a white button-down shirt with matching trousers.
Meghan paired it with black pointed-toe heels and simple accessories, giving off a vibe of effortless elegance, topped off with a sleek, slicked-back bun.
The Duchess initially said the visit to Fashion Week in the French capital was ‘the culmination of many years of…friendship’ with Balenciaga’s top designer Pierpaolo Piccioli – but the latter suggested their friendship revolved more around casual texting.
In a recent interview the celebrated clothing designer revealed that Meghan had asked him if she could attend – rather than him sending her an invite.
But Pierpaolo did say it was a ‘beautiful surprise’ and had helped keep her Paris visit to his show secret.
When asked about Meghan’s trip – and her two outfits – he said: ‘Meghan and I met some years ago, and we’ve been texting ever since. She reached out and said she’d love to come to the show.’
He added: ‘There was no strategy or big orchestration.’
Meghan’s decision to take a 10,000-mile round trip to Paris Fashion Week came straight out of the blue, Piccioli confirmed, and he helped her keep it secret.
