- Six standout U.S. restaurants made the coveted Top 25 list — including buzzy new spots and timeless favorites.
If your choice of restaurants usually revolves around chasing the perfect burger, you’re in luck, because experts just weighed in on where to head for the absolute best beefy bites.
Hundred Burgers in Spain officially claims the title of the world’s best burger, according to the 2025 World’s 25 Best Burgers list. This international contest ranks burgers based on thoughtfully crafted patties, dining experience, and ingredient sourcing — and this restaurant in Valencia, founded by Alex Gonzálex-Urbón and Ezequiel Maldjian, secured the top spot.
Its staple singular cheeseburger starts with dry-aged beef — a common trait among many of the best burgers — that’s freshly ground daily and sandwiched between house-made brioche buns. As the 25 World’s Best judges write, this burger has a wow-worthy textural contrast between the soft, buttery demi-brioche bread and the deeply flavorful patty. The result is an umami-rich and unexpectedly complex bite, which the judges describe as “artisanal excellence.”
It’s listed at just €12.5 for the burger (which shakes out to roughly $14.72). That’s not bad for the world’s best version of anything, let alone one of our favorite foods.
Otherwise, six of the top 25 patties hail from the United States — with must-visit restaurants spanning New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles. You might recognize New York City’s classic Red Hook Tavern (No. 21) or buzzy Sip & Guzzle (No. 13), both of which graced this year’s list.
This particular contest is part of the larger World’s 101 Best Steak Restaurantswhich ranks restaurants across the world. It’s organized by the London-based Upper Cut Conceptswhich determines the rankings based on nine criteriaranging from the quality of the meats to the menu’s concise descriptions and even the reservation process.
Now, let’s check out those juicy burgers.
Among the ten top-awarded burgers, two ingredients reign supreme: aged patties and premium cuts of beef. From dry-aged burgers to premium Wagyu blends, mature beef is a key component in many of the top 10 burgers. Exceptional toppings also play a major role in earning favor among these judges.
Europe snagged six awards, while the United Kingdom won seven overall. North American burger joints were awarded six rankings, Australia grabbed three of the top spots, and Asia, the Middle East, and South America each won one.
Over in London, Bleecker Burger earned the title of the second-best burger joint in the world, thanks to its straightforward, simple approach to dry-aged burger patties. (The classic sesame bun and short list of toppings allow the beef to truly shine, as the judges outlined in their tasting notes.)
Founded by lawyer-turned-entrepreneur Zan Kaufman as a food truck, Bleecker Burger has since expanded to eight locations. The classic cheeseburger is your best bet on the menu, with nothing more than high-quality beef, American cheese, onions, and a house sauce between two buns.
Black Bear Burger in London’s Exmouth Market, which secured the No. 3 spot, won judges over with its classic burger, featuring a dry-aged patty, house sauce and seasoning blend, and sliced cheese. Judges also sampled the Brisket Burger, built from 12-hour beer-braised brisket with a garlicky mayo.
All of Black Bear’s offerings are made from “the best of British beef,” the restaurant writes on its website. If you’re searching for something a bit further from the classics, you can’t miss the Miso Bacon Burger, which includes a layer of miso butter mayo for depth of flavor. (While the World’s 25 Best Burger judges only sampled the restaurant’s classic and brisket burgers, the miso offering was named the United Kingdom’s best burger at the island nation’s 2025 National Burger Awards.)
Sip & Guzzle — the stateside sibling of Shingo Gokan’s The SG Club in Shibuya, Tokyo — is the top-ranking spot in the United States at No. 13. The Greenwich Village hotspot, which opened to much acclaim in 2024, is housed inside a two-level venue.
Gokan, who was named International Bartender of the Year at the 2017 Spirited Awardsworked with the former executive chef of three-Michelin-starred Alinea in Chicago, Mike Bagale, on the food for Sip & Guzzle, which is inspired by modern izakaya-style menus.
The next-best American burger is within walking distance of this one. Head over to the East Village to snag the No. 15 burger on the list, found at the Korean-American gastropub Nowon. This restaurant’s team is slinging locally beloved sandwiches like the Jae’s Chicken Bun (a double-fried chicken patty with honey-gochujang glaze, crunchy peanuts, soy-pickled jalapeño, and slaw) in addition to its award-winning, dry-aged cheeseburger.
The Loyalistfound in Chicago’s West Loop, also receives praise (and the No. 19 spot) for its $28 OG Cheeseburger. This burger is topped with both pickled and charred onions before being sandwiched between two sesame seed buns. Described as a “neighborhood bar at heart,” this restaurant is a mandatory stop in the Windy City.
