Olivia Ponton Dishes On What Shes Shopping This Christmas (Exclusive)

Olivia Ponton is getting into the holiday spirit.

The content creator, 23, tells PEOPLE that the holidays are a special time with her family that she always looks forward to — and it starts immediately after Thanksgiving.

“My family officially kicks off the holiday season with our annual cookie-baking marathon,” she says of their plans for after Thanksgiving. “My mom bakes at least 15 varieties of cookies and fudges! It’s truly endless, and the house smells like sugar and butter for days! We always put on Christmas music and make an entire day of it. It’s one of those traditions that feels nostalgic and grounding every single year.”

In the midst of the cookie festivities, though, Ponton is already in the swing of Christmas shopping. As a “dedicated Black Friday girl,” Ponton says she sees it as nostalgic and exhilarating to get out shopping on arguably the busiest day of the year.

“If I can’t track something down in person, Cyber Monday is my saving grace. I love the thrill of finding everything in one big, productive weekend!” she shares.

For Ponton, gifting is a big deal — and she loves being able to gift her family and friends really special things. It’s not always material things, though. Ponton recalls a really special gift she gave her dad a few years ago that was about the time spent.

“A couple of years ago, I created a full scavenger hunt for my dad, complete with clues hidden around the house. Watching him trace the clues with so much excitement was priceless. It was one of those moments where the experience itself became the gift.”

Her sister gave her a similarly experiential gift last year that she still thinks about and treasures.

“Last year, my sister gifted me a ‘year of reading,’ which essentially meant a curated lineup of books to enjoy throughout the year. It was thoughtful, personal, and truly one of the most meaningful gifts I’ve ever received.”
