A Red Card And An Out Signal.. Flick Will Miss The Real Madrid Match And Faces The Risk Of Being Suspended For A Long Period

The German coach received a red card in stoppage time of the match that ended with Barcelona’s dramatic 2-1 victory over Girona, which will prevent him from being on the bench at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium during the upcoming El Clásico on Sunday, October 26.

In crucial moments of the match, Flick‘s anger flared up after referee Jesus Gil Manzano decided to give only 4 minutes of stoppage time.

The German coach expressed his dissatisfaction publicly, and received a second yellow card in the first minute of stoppage time, which automatically turned into a sending off.

But the matter did not end here. Instead of leaving the field immediately, Flick preferred to stay in the players’ tunnel to watch the final seconds of the match.

When Ronald Araujo scored Barcelona’s winning goal in the third minute of stoppage time, Flick left the tunnel celebrating the goal, and committed a “disgraceful” act that might complicate his punishment further, as he made an obscene gesture with his hand towards the referee.

This incident will inevitably be referred to the Disciplinary Committee, and may lead to a more severe punishment, going beyond simply missing the El Clasico, to the point of banning Flick for several matches.

Thus, Flick will not be present in one of the most prominent matches of the season, adding to the absences that Barcelona suffers from before the battle in the Spanish capital.
